The Best Keyboard/Mouse Buyer’s Guide – Winter 2021

By Ari Altman | Published February 10, 2021 | Updated February 10, 2021

As much as personal PCs have changed since their release over four decades ago, two things have remained fundamentally the same: the keyboard and mouse. And we have a feeling they’ll be with us for decades to come. With that said, we definitely don’t recommend you saddle your new PC with the same old peripherals you’ve been using since the turn of the century! Stepping up to a modern keyboard and mouse can make your computing experience come alive again, which shouldn’t be too surprising if you consider that they are the two main touchpoints that connect you to your computer.

For Winter 2021, we’ve organized this guide into two sections. First, you have our picks for home and small office products. Next, we have a wide range of gaming-specific products for mainstream and extreme gaming. Keep in mind that just because a product has “gaming” in the name doesn’t mean it’s the real deal. We’ve picked out models that know will actually improve your gaming experience!

Note that we provide direct links to all the gear we recommend in the US via Amazon or Newegg links, and our Amazon links will auto-convert for readers in Canada, the UK, and parts of the EU, with regional substitutions made automatically where necessary. If you find a product you like in this guide, please use our links to purchase it, which helps support continued development of this site!

The sleek, full-featured keyboard is our top pick for office productivity use. It offers backlighting to make typing in the dimly-lit conditions easier, and being wireless, you can easily move it out of the way when you need more desk space.
    The Guru’s Tip

This awesome keyboard is even rechargeable - just plug it in with micro-USB to give its internal lithium battery a boost!

  • The Deluxe Wireless Mouse

    Logitech MX Master 3

    $100
Nothing can bog you down faster when in the midst of a quick trade than a mouse tangled up on its cord. So we strongly recommend a wireless mouse, but not just any wireless mouse – the MX Master 3 from Logitech has an incredibly comfortable profile, ideal for use all day long, along with the most innovative scroll wheel ever to make its way onto a mouse. Its built-in battery will last up to 70 days before needing a charge. And it can even track on glass!
    The Guru’s Tip

This mouse uses USB Type-C to charge, and will pick up 3 hours of charge in just 1 minute!

  • The Deluxe Wireless Keyboard/Mouse Combo

    Logitech K800/MX Master Combo

    $120
This combo includes two of Logitech’s best home office products, the slim K800 wireless illuminated keyboard and the MX Master wireless mouse, which has the ability to track on glass and can be used with three PC simultaneously!
    The Guru’s Tip

While the included MX Master mouse isn't the latest offering from Logitech, it is still a fantastic mouse, and this combo is a great value!

  • The Deluxe Home Theater Keyboard

    Logitech K600 TV Keyboard

    $56
Want a great HTPC keyboard to go with your new PC? Then go for Logitech’s K600. It has two modes of navigation (touchpad and joystick), and uses Logitech’s proven wireless connection system. It’s even compatible with most Smart TVs, allowing you to search for content with an actual keyboard rather than just a remote!
    The Guru’s Tip

This unique keyboard also works with most modern Smart TVs, making it a perfect choice for a home theater setup, and immensely easier to use with a TV than a remote!
