The November 2025 Updates

Heading into the most exciting time of the year for PC builders (i.e., the holiday!), we have some really good news and some pretty bad news. The good news is that video cards are all available at or near their MSRP, and sometimes even a bit under MSRP. In terms of GPUs, both Nvidia and AMD have good deals available, at different price points. Among our favorites are the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB and 16GB at under $300 and $400, respectively, the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB at under $550, the RTX 5070 Ti around $750, and the RTX 5080 16GB at $1000. This is huge change from spring and summer 2025, and actually pretty good for any GPU in its year of release – historically it’s been hard to grab GPUs at all for a year after release. Given that AI is gobbling up lots of GPUs, just getting your hands on a GPU is great, and getting it at or below MSRP is phenomenal.

And now for the bad news – the RAM market is in crisis mode, and it looks like it will be getting worse before it gets better. We’ve been ringing the alarm bell for a couple months on this page, and the mainstream tech media has only just caught up, but in short, RAM is now 100-150% higher in price than it was at its low point this summer, meaning kits we were recommending at $90-$100 are now well over $200 (and often out of stock), and kits that were at around $200 are now well over $400. SSDs are also going up in price, as they are a related technology, but luckily the increase hasn’t been as swift (but will probably continue). To work around these issues, we will be spec’ing lower-speed and lower-capacity RAM kits in many builds. It’s not ideal, but RAM is the easiest thing to upgrade in a PC, by far, and rather than let you get soaked with an awful price today, we figure you should get your system up and running with a decent if not extraordinary kit, and upgrade once prices drop.

So with that said, with the holidays coming, we’ll likely see great deals on just about every PC component… except for RAM!
