It's that season again... time to find the perfect tech gift for everyone on your wish list! Unlike a lot of other holiday buyer's guides that try to cover every product under the sun, we're doing something a little different. We're just going to list the perfect dozen - the 12 best products we've reviewed this year, period. This is gear we've tested extensively and decided is so good that we just couldn't let it go after the review. Every single product in this list is something that we continue to use to this day, so in a sense, compiling this list was as simple as looking around the room! We believe that if it's good enough for us, you'll probably enjoy it too!

Put another way, these are the products that we believe highlight the best in tech for 2018. Note that we've listed the products in order of price, starting at under $40 and going all the way up to $2,000, so just pick a price and you'll find a great piece of new tech for the holidays!

    Smart Thermostat:

    Ecobee4 Smarter Wi-Fi Thermostat

There's no better way to "tech up" your home than to add a smart thermostat, but among many options, there's only one "smarter" thermostat - the Ecobee4! We've tested nearly every big-name thermostat out there, and Ecobee is just so much more advanced than the rest that there's really no competition. It uses a big, bold color display, a user-friendly app, and room motion and temperature sensing technology to provide a comfortable climate in your home, no matter where you happen to be. And it will even save you money by automatically powering down when it senses no one at home. That's not just smart, it's brilliant! And unlike Nest, it integrates with every Smart Home brand on the market, including the SmartThings Hub listed earlier in this guide.

    Outdoor Security Camera:

    Ring Video Doorbell Pro

But Ring is different, and with its new Video Doorbell Pro, it brings a truly high-end offering to the video doorbell market. It looks great, is easy to install, offers lots of functionality, and most importantly, integrates perfectly with just about every other Smart Home device out there, including the SmartThings Hub listed earlier in this guide.

Among many contenders, the TP-Link Deco M9 Plus offers the best combination of price, performance, and expandability. With a dedicated backhaul, it outperforms nearly every other mesh system on the market, while providing coverage for homes up to 4,500 sq ft out of the box. AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

AMD may have taken its lumps over the years, but with its Ryzen line of CPUs, it caught its bigger-name competitor Intel flat-footed. And the 2700X represents the best-of-the-best, an eight-core, 16-thread powerhouse that can boost to well over 4GHz out of the box. Just a few years ago, this much performance cost three times more. Thank goodness for competition!

  • The Mid-Range 65-inch 4K Dolby Vision TV:

    Vizio 65 P Quantum (2018)

If you're in the market for an ultra-high end TV at a agreat price this holiday season, there's no better pick than Vizio's Quantum. Released late in the 2018 model year, it beat every other TV we tested hands down, including Samsung's QLED and LG's latest OLED. Offering a big 65" 4K screen with High Dynamic Range (including cutting-edge Dolby Vision), the image this TV can produce is simply beyond belief. That's thanks to the Quantum Dots that enhance its colors, along with a backlight that can push out 2000 nits for incredible HDR lighting. Seriously, skip the OLED this year and treat yourself to a truly next-gen TV!
